Landscape Architecture Convocation 2011
Department of Landscape Architecture Convocation
Saturday May 14,
Grass Terrace/Bowling Lawn adjacent to Allerton Mansion in Allerton Park, Monticello, IL
(Graduates and Faculty to meet at Allerton Retreat Center/Mansion at 2:30 p.m.)
The Bowling Lawn adjacent to the Allerton House at Robert Allerton Park in Monticello, Illinois will be the location for the 2011 Department of Landscape Architecture convocation ceremony on Saturday, May 14, at 3:00 p.m. The Allerton Park gardens and surrounding landscape have made graduation a memorable experience for graduates of the Department and their families and friends for over twenty years.
Jonathan Mueller (President of the American Society of Landscape Architects) and Marian Stone (Assistant Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts) will be our guests for the event. Mr. Mueller will deliver the convocation address and two of the graduating students will deliver messages on behalf of the students.
This year we proudly celebrate students graduating with the degrees of Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Master of Landscape Architecture, and Doctor of Philosophy in Landscape Architecture. The Ph.D. program (jointly administered by the Department of Landscape Architecture and the School of Architecture) was initiated in 2001 and this year Chuo Li will be the fourth student to receive a Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture from our program.
Immediately following the Department convocation ceremony, a class photo will be taken. This will be followed by a brief reception to be held in the Allerton Retreat Center/Mansion.
Sunday May 15, 2:00 p.m., University of Illinois Assembly Hall, Champaign, IL
Landscape Architecture graduates may also participate in the 2:00 p.m. campus commencement ceremony on May 16 at the Assembly Hall. Detailed information about this event and other activities scheduled for commencement weekend can be found on the University of Illinois Commencement website.
